P1D73-AGS PERFORMANCE
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information.
- When Monitored:
With the engine running and battery voltage between 11.0 and 16.0 volts. Ambient Air Temperature or Engine Coolant Temperature above -7°C (19.4°F).
- Set Condition:
The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) receives a message from the Active Grill Shutter Actuator that the open to close position travel is above 160 degrees or the mechanical stop was detected before the commanded position was reached.
Always perform the Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting procedure before proceeding. Pre-Diagnostic Troubleshooting Procedure.
Diagnostic Test
1. ACTIVE DTC
1. Start the engine.
2. With the scan tool read DTCs.
Is the DTC Active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Intermittent Condition Test.
2. CHECK THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER FOR AN OBSTRUCTION
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Visually inspect for signs of any possible obstructions of the Active Grill Shutter.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair the obstruction and retest for an active fault.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
No
- Go To 3
3. CHECK THE (F342) ASD RELAY OUTPUT CIRCUITS AT THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER ACTUATOR
1. Disconnect the Active Grill Shutter Actuator harness connector.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. Measure the voltage on both (F342) ASD Relay Output circuits at the Active Grill Shutter Actuator harness connector.
Is the voltage equal to battery voltage?
Yes
- Go To 4
No
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
4. CHECK THE (Z905) GROUND CIRCUIT AT THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER ACTUATOR
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Measure the resistance between ground and the (Z905) Ground circuit at the Active Grill Shutter Actuator harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Replace the Active Grill Shutter Actuator. Navigate to Miscellaneous functions and perform the 'Active Grille Shutter Replaced' procedure.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
No
- Repair the (Z905) Ground circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Powertrain Verification Test.
