Programming Ignition Keys To The BCM





PROGRAMMING KEYS TO THE BCM

NOTE: Key , Fobs and BCM can only be ordered through the dealer parts department.

The Body Control Module (BCM) may be programmed to recognize up to a total of eight key fobs. When replacing or adding a key fob, the replacement/additional key fob must be ordered through your parts department by VIN. The new key will arrive within 24 hours cut to match the door lock cylinder in the vehicle for which it will be used. Once the new key fob arrives, the BCM must be programmed to recognize it as a valid key fob. When programming a FOBIK it may be necessary to have the vehicle Electronic ID. Follow the instructions on the scan tool screen.

WARNING: All key fobs to be used on this vehicle must be present with the vehicle when programming a new key. Every key must be reprogrammed at this time. Any key not reprogrammed at this time will be locked out from that BCM forever and will no longer function.

1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool select BCM.
3. With the scan tool select; "Misc. Functions" "Erase and Program Keys".
4. Press "Continue" and follow the instructions on the screen.

NOTE: The 5 digit Electronic ID must be entered when running this procedure. The Electronic ID can be found on the customer owned "Electronic ID card" or in the DealerCONNECT -> Parts section.
