Seat Back: Adjustments






ADJUSTMENT

Special Tools:






PASSENGER SEAT





NOTE: Before proceeding with the following procedure, review all Warnings and Cautions Service Precautions .

1. Using trim stick C-4755, remove the trim cap (1) from the seat back recliner lever (2).





2. Remove the screw (1) and washer (2) that secure the seat back recliner lever (3) to the seat and remove the lever.
3. Remove the two screws that secure the inboard seat cushion side shield (4) to the seat and remove the side shield.





4. Lift the fabric (1) covering the recliner cable.





5. Install a tie strap (2) through the hole of the seat recliner lever that secures the cable retaining clip (1). Cut off the excess length from the tie strap.
6. Attach the cable retaining clip (1) to the seat adjusting lever if disengagement has occurred.

NOTE: Make sure the head of the tie strap is facing outward and does not interfere with lever travel.






7. Position the inboard seat cushion side shield (4) to the seat and install the two retaining screws. Tighten the screws securely.
8. Install the seat back recliner lever (3).
9. Install the screw (1) and washer (2) that secures the seat back recliner lever. Tighten the screw securely.





10. Install the trim cap (1) onto the seat back recliner lever (2).
11. Install the front seat, Front Seat - Installation.

DRIVER SEAT





NOTE: The driver side seat does not need to be removed from the vehicle to complete the repair.

1. Position the driver seat back and track in the full forward position. Unzip the seat cover and lift the rear flap of the cover (1) in order to detach the lower seat back J-channel retainer at the bottom of the seat back upholstery.





2. Detach the seat cover side (2).
3. Locate the seat recliner cable retaining clip (1).
4. Locate the easy entry cable compensator (3).





5. Install a tie strap (1) through the hole of the seat recliner lever that secures the cable retaining clip. Cut off the excess length from the tie strap.
6. Attach the cable retaining clip (1) to the seat adjusting lever if disengagement has occurred.

NOTE: Make sure the head of the tie strap is facing outward and does not interfere with lever travel.






7. Locate the easy entry cable compensator (1), pry open the lock tab in order to adjust the cable housing length.





8. While holding the compensator level with the bottom of the metal seat support brace, push the cable housing (1) into the compensator housing until all slack is out of the cable housing.

NOTE: Reinstall the compensator lock tab slightly so that it can be squeezed into position once the compensator housing has been adjusted while at the same time being held level.






9. Attach the seat cover side (2).





10. Attach the lower seat back J-channel retainer at the bottom of the seat back upholstery. Lower the rear flap of the cover (1) and zip. Position the driver seat back and track in the full forward position.
