Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) System





AUTOMATIC TEMPERATURE CONTROL (ATC)

Special Tools:






WARNING: Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.





1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. Using trim stick C-4755 or equivalent (3), disengage the retaining tabs that secure the control panel (1) to the A/C heater control and remove the control panel from the instrument panel (2).





3. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (2) from the accessory switch pod (1) and remove the control panel (3).





4. Remove the instrument panel center bezel Instrument Panel Center Bezel - Removal.
5. Remove the four screws (2, 3, 5 and 6) that secure the A/C heater control (1) to the instrument panel cover (4).
6. Remove the instrument panel cover Instrument Panel Cover - Removal.





7. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (2) from the A/C heater control (1) and remove the control.
