Instrument Cluster Indicators

The Instrument Cluster (IC) (also known as the Instrument Panel Cluster/IPC) for this vehicle has an indicator ring (also known as telltale ring) that encircles much of the outer circumference of the IC. The indicator ring has provisions for up to 31 hard indicators and also houses an ambient light sensor (6) that the IC monitors to automatically adjust panel lighting to compensate for changes in ambient light conditions.

The IC also features a number of soft indicators, which are located within the electronic display unit (7) in the center of the cluster.

The instrument cluster includes provisions for the following indicators:

Manual Transmission:

Automatic Transmission:

- Clock (1) - An electronic digital clock within the EVIC electronic display can be configured for either 24 hour display mode or a 12 hour display mode. The 12 hour mode includes AM and PM indications.

- Digital Speedometer (5) - Except in vehicles equipped with headlamp leveling, the vehicle operator can choose to have an electronic digital speedometer display supplement the standard analog speedometer readings. The unit of measure for the digital speedometer display is also driver selectable from kilometers (km/h) or miles (MPH).

- Electronic Message Display (4) - A 14 character pseudo do not matrix display within the EVIC is used for the display of various information to the vehicle operator. This includes various audio system, failure, feedback, informative and requested information including the features of the trip computer.

- Engine Coolant Temperature Gauge (7) - A bar graph engine coolant temperature gauge with 8 segments is found within every EVIC electronic display.

- Fuel Gauge (9) - A bar graph fuel gauge with 9 segments is found within every EVIC electronic display.

- Gear Selector Indicator (12) - In vehicles equipped with an optional automatic transmission, a gear selector indicator within the EVIC electronic display illuminates the appropriate text or numeral to indicate the transmission range currently selected by the vehicle operator.

- Headlamp Leveling Indicator (5) - A headlamp leveling indicator is used only when headlamp leveling is required by the market for which the vehicle was originally manufactured. This indicator replaces the digital speedometer found in vehicles manufactured for markets where headlamp leveling is not required.

- Ice Indicator (6) - A snowflake icon is illuminated within the electronic display whenever the outside ambient temperature indicates that ice could be present on the roadway.

- Odometer (2) - An electronic digital total odometer within the EVIC electronic display will display either kilometers (km) or miles (mi), depending upon the unit of measure required by the market for which the vehicle was originally manufactured.

- Outside Ambient Temperature Display (10) - The outside ambient temperature is displayed in a digital format. The unit of measure for the digital thermometer display is driver selectable from Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).

- Reserve Fuel Indicator (11) - In vehicles manufactured for certain Latin American markets where an on-board fuel reserve feature is required, the fuel icon and the text GASOLINA will be illuminated whenever the vehicle is being operated on the reserve fuel supply.

- Shift Indicator (8) - In vehicles equipped with a manual transmission (except Abarth) a shift indicator text and arrow are illuminated within the EVIC electronic display each time a transmission upshift would seem to be appropriate. In Abarth models, this indication is found within the turbo boost gauge; rather than within the EVIC electronic display.

- Sport Mode Indicator (3) - Whenever the vehicle is being operated with the optional Sport mode active, the text SPORT will be illuminated within the EVIC electronic display.
