Center Mounted Brake Lamp - Installation

LAMP - CABRIO

NOTE: The Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) used on Cabrio models is serviced only as a complete unit. The lamp is removed with the molding or spoiler located on the outside of the convertible top cover directly over the cross member above the back glass. This CHMSL is illuminated by several Light-Emitting Diode (LED) units that are serviced only as a complete unit with the CHMSL.

1. Position the CHMSL (2) to the back of the spoiler molding (3).
2. Install and tighten the two screws (1) that secure the CHMSL housing to the back of the spoiler molding. Tighten the screws securely.
3. Working from the exterior of the vehicle, insert the CHMSL pigtail wire harness through the hole in the convertible top cover and seat the harness grommet in the clearance hole in the cross member above the back glass.
4. Position the CHMSL and spoiler molding assembly to the convertible top cover and have a helper hold it in place until the screws can be started from the interior of the vehicle.

5. Working from the rear seat of the vehicle, install and tighten the four screws (2) that secure the spoiler molding and CHMSL unit to the cross member (1) above the back glass. Tighten the screws securely.
6. Reconnect the CHMSL pigtail wire connector to the body wire harness connector.
7. Reposition the headliner to the inside of the convertible top and attach the hook and loop fastener patches that secure the headliner to the cross member across the back glass from C-pillar to C-pillar.
8. Reconnect the battery negative cable.
