In-Car Temperature Sensor - Operation

OPERATION
Air is drawn from the passenger compartment by the aspirator motor and flows over the temperature thermistor. The thermistor changes resistance with air temperature. The Automatic Temperature Control (ATC) A/C heater module receives the resistance signal and calculates the temperature of the air drawn into the in-car temperature sensor. The ATC system then makes adjustments to maintain the occupant preselected temperature within the passenger compartment.
The in-car temperature sensor is diagnosed using a scan tool A L L Diagnostic Trouble Codes ( DTC ).

The temperature thermistor and aspirator motor cannot be adjusted or repaired and if damaged or inoperative, the entire ATC A/C heater control must be replaced A/C And Heater Control - Removal.
