Intermediate Shaft - Installation

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Steering column module is centered to the vehicles steering system. Failure to keep the system and steering column module centered and locked/inhibited from rotating can result in steering column module damage. Procedures .






NOTE: When removing and installing the column to service the intermediate shaft, it is not necessary to remove the steering wheel and Steering Column Control Module; the column can be removed and installed as an assembly.

NOTE: A new pinch bolt (1) is required every time the intermediate shaft is serviced.

1. Slide intermediate shaft (2) onto splines of steering wheel assembly.
2. Install NEW coupler pinch bolt (1) and tighten to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.)
3. Install column in vehicle Steering Column - Installation.
