Article No. 83-19-19

NOISE - VIBRATION - A/C SUCTION HOSE - VEHICLES BUILT BETWEEN OCTOBER 1982 AND APRIL 1983

LIGHT TRUCKS 1983 F SERIES AND BRONCO

A vibration noise heard from the engine compartment near the vehicle cowl during cold ambient temperature operation may be caused by the A/C suction hose assembly contacting the cowl. If a concern of this nature is encountered, check the rubber portion of the hose for a foam rubber sleeve. If no sleeve is found, refer to the following procedure.

1. Obtain a foam rubber wrapping material approximately one quarter (1/4) inch thick such as refrigeration line insulating material. The material can be purchased at most hardware stores or refrigeration equipment wholesalers.
2. Starting one (1) inch from the metal ferrule at the evaporator housing, extend the wrapping material inboard approximately 30 inches on 6.9L engine vehicles and 20 inches on all other subject vehicles.
3. Secure the material in place with strong tape or bundling straps.
