Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support vehicle.
3. Mark relationship of driveshaft to flange, then disconnect driveshaft and slide off transmission output shaft. Install suitable seal installation tool into extension housing to prevent leakage.
4. Disconnect speedometer cable from extension housing.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors from back up lamp switch and high gear switch (if equipped).
6. Remove shift lever, ball and boot as an assembly.
7. Support engine with a suitable jack and remove extension housing to rear engine support attaching bolts.
8. Raise rear of engine high enough to relieve weight from crossmember, then remove crossmember.
9. Support transmission with a suitable jack and remove transmission to flywheel housing attaching bolts.
10. Slide transmission rearward until input shaft clears clutch housing, then carefully lower transmission from vehicle.

NOTE: Do not depress clutch pedal with transmission out of vehicle.

11. Reverse procedure to install.
