A/T - A4LD Intermittent No Reverse Condition

SUBJECT: A4LD

PROBLEM:
Intermittent "no reverse" after installing the metal sealing rings on the center support. The metal rings do not always seal well, causing a "no application" of the direct and reverse clutch when the selector is placed in "R".

SOLUTION:




The lathe cut rubber rings work best for this application (see Figure 1). During installation, the rings tend to stretch. They can be sized by using the overdrive drum as shown in Figure 2.
