ISSUE: Surging and/or bucking during cruise or part throttle decel may be caused by a sticking or contaminated EGR Control Solenoid even though the EEC IV selftest may display a service code 11 (system pass).


ACTION: To correct this, install a new EGR Control Solenoid using the following service diagnostic procedure.

NOTE: Refer to the EGR Control Solenoid Application Chart on page 63 for the correct part application.

1. Check for correct routing of all vacuum lines, inspect for damage and repair or replace as required.

2. Disconnect and plug vacuum hose to the EGR valve. Road test vehicle.

3. If the condition is eliminated, replace the old EGR control solenoid assembly with a new design EGR control solenoid that has a bleed on the vacuum input.
