LIGHT TRUCK 1986-87 AEROSTAR
ISSUE: Water entering along the division bar of the sliding windows may be caused by poor sealing.
ACTION: To correct this, add a body side window seal (E79Z-11247A10-A) to the stationary glass of each window rearward of the division bar. Refer to the following service procedure.

1. Remove body side door window latch (1127180) by carefully driving out coil spring pin with a pin punch, Figure 7.

2. Remove body side door window latch spring (1127178), two screws, and two body side door window latch retainers (11302A22) to remove body side door window latch handle (1127170), Figure 8.

3. Remove body side door window stop (1125780) by pulling it out from outside lower rear part of window assembly, Figure 9.
4. Move sliding window all the way rearward until outside glass area, 1.00 inch wide rear of division bar, is exposed.

5. Clean outside glass area, 1.00 inch wide rear of division bar for length of division bar, with isopropyl alcohol. Make sure that glass surface is clean and let air dry for two minutes. Figure 10.
NOTE: Seal lip must face front of vehicle.

6. Obtain body side window seal (E79Z- 11247A10-A) and peel off protective backing paper. Do not touch exposed tape surface. Apply body side window seal to glass against rear edge of division bar starting at upper corner of division bar, Figure 11.

7. Using a small wallpaper roller, apply pressure by rolling it along the front and rear side part of body side window seal, Figure 12.
8. Let body side window seal dry for 10 minutes before sliding window into closed position.
9. Reinstall body side door window stop.
10. Reinstall body side door window latch handle, latch spring, two latch retainers, (with two screws), latch, and coil spring pin.
11. After closing sliding window with its latch locked, use a 5/8 inch hose with a spray nozzle (about 3 inch spray) and direct six gallons per minute of water to six inches rearward of division bar and eight inches below top of window assembly. Hold three feet from window assembly for 20 seconds. Check for leaks on both window assemblies.
