Because of Ford Motor Company's commitment to customer satisfaction, we are offering a no-charge Service Program covering your 1986 Aerostar.
Reason For This Program
A number of owners have had the sliding door mechanism of their Aerostars repaired. In a number of cases, the durability of the door mechanism has not mat owner's expectations. This program will modify the sliding door mechanism for improved durability.
Symptoms Signs of wear in the sliding door may be one or more of the following:
- A scraping or dragging sound when the door is being opened or closed.
- Sticking or binding in mid-travel when the door is being opened or closed.
- Increased force required to open or close the door.
Dealer Repairs At no cost to you, your dealer will replace the sliding door mechanism on your Aerostar. Your dealer will also adjust the door for proper opening and closing.
Refund Your dealer will also give you a refund if you have already paid to have the sliding door mechanism repaired. For this refund, you must give the dealer your paid repair order or parts purchase receipt, as proof of the previous repair. For this refund, your dealer must have this proof on or before November 30, 1989.
How long will it take?
The time needed to repair your Aerostar will be less than 4 hours.
Call your dealer
Call your dealer promptly and ask for a service date.
Your dealer has the service information needed to repair your Aerostar. If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week. when you bring your Aerostar in, give the dealer the enclosed form.
If you misplace the form, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
Changed address or sold the van?
If you have, please fill out Section 1 of the enclosed prepaid postcard and mail it to us.
