ISSUE: A hesitation or stall at idle may occur with immediate restarts. There are no service codes and diagnosis shows no root cause. These conditions are caused by lamination separation of the intake manifold gasket to the cylinder head. This separation allows air leaks that are difficult to diagnose. The commonly used propane or "snoop" leak check methods may not detect a failure in the gasket material.

ACTION: If no root causes or faults are found after routine diagnosis, install a new paper intake manifold gasket (E59Z-9439-A). Refer to the appropriate model year Shop Manual, Section 21-05, for service details.
