WARNING: THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINE. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS.
ISSUE: Extended crank time in excess of five seconds, stalling at idle after initial cold start-up or a rough idle condition in ambient temperatures of 50~F (10~C) or above may be caused by the strategy of the EEC IV processor. This condition usually occurs after soak-times of four hours or longer.
ACTION: Install a new EEC IV processor with revised operating strategy. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Perform an EEC IV Quick Test and correct service code(s) as required. If no service codes are present and the symptom still exists, proceed to Step 2.
2. Install a new EEC IV processor. Refer to the EEC IV PROCESSOR APPLICATION CHART for the correct service part.
NOTE: AN IDLE ADJUSTMENT WILL NOT BE REQUIRED.

Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
