Inertia Fuel Shutoff Switch: Service and Repair

The inertia switch is located on the toe-board to the right of the transmission tunnel. Its purpose is to shut off fuel to the engine in the event of a vehicle collision. To reset switch, proceed as follows:
1. Turn ignition switch to Off position.
2. Check for leaking fuel in engine compartment, fuel lines and tank(s) and correct as necessary.
3. Push reset button on top of switch, then turn ignition switch On for several seconds.
4. Turn ignition switch Off, then check for and repair leaks as necessary.
