Pitman Shaft Overcenter Preload Check
1. Disconnect pitman arm at ball stud and remove horn pad from steering wheel.
2. Turn steering wheel from one extreme to the other while counting total number of turns. Turn wheel back one half the number of turns so gear is centered.
3. Place inch lbs. torque wrench on steering wheel nut. Rotate steering shaft 90 degrees either way across center. Observe highest reading. Overcenter preload should be within specifications listed at end of section.
