Hydraulic Clutch System Trouble Shooting Guide

PROBLEM CAUSES SOLUTION

^ Soft Pedal - Low Fluid in Reservoir - Refill reservoir to correct fluid
level then bleed system.

- Air in System - Bleed system.

- Faulty or Damaged Master - Replace master cylinder, refill
Cylinder Piston Secondary Seal system, bleed system.

- Internal Leak Past Primary Seal - Replace master cylinder, refill
system, bleed system.

- Slave Cylinder Seal Leakage - Replace slave cylinder.

^ Excessive Pedal - Low Fluid in Reservoir - Refill reservoir to correct fluid
Travel level then bleed system.

^ Clutch Fails to - Air in System - Bleed system.
^ Release - Faulty or Damaged Master - Replace master cylinder, refill

Cylinder Piston Secondary Seal system, bleed system.

- Internal Leak Past Primary Seal - Replace master cylinder, refill
system, bleed system.

- Slave Cylinder Seal Leakage - Replace slave cylinder.

- Incorrect Underdash Mechanism - Correct adjustment.
Adjustment

^ Hard Pedal - Clutch Pedal Underdash Binding - Repair/lubricate as needed.

- Mechanism at Bell Housing - Repair as needed.

- Blocked Compensating Port - Adjust pushrod.

- Replace master cylinder, refill
system and bleed.

- Swollen Cup Seal in Master - Replace system.
Cylinder

- Contamination in Master - Replace system.
Cylinder Bore

- Restriction in Hydraulic Tube - Replace tubes, refill and
bleed system.

- Replace system.

- Swollen Seals in Slave Cylinder - Replace system.

- Clutch Disc Worn Out - Service clutch.

^ Clutch Fails to - Underdash Mechanism or Bell - Repair/replace as needed.
Engage Housing Mechanism Binding

- Swollen Primary Seal in Master - Replace system.
Cylinder

- Restricted/Blocked Hydraulics - Replace lines, refill and bleed
Tubes system.

- Replace system.

- Swollen Slave Cylinder Seals - Replace system.

- Incorrect Underdash Mechanism - Correct adjustment.
