SUBJECT: Safety Recall 88S39 Supplement 2 - F-350 (4 x 2) Front End Shimmy
REFERENCE: Safety Recall Bulletins 88S39 and 88S39 - Supplement I dated February, 1988
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
Certain 1987/1988 F350 4 x 2 trucks (except 1988 F-350 Super Duty) and 4x2 chassis cabs (includes Regular, Super and Crew Cabs) with dual rear wheels and built through January 6, 1988.
REASONS FOR RECALL:
Severe front-end shimmy could develop and eventually damage vehicle components, resulting in the loss of steering control. Loss of steering control could result in a vehicle crash. To prevent this condition, certain front-end components will be inspected and modified, or replaced.
PLEASE NOTE:
^ LOANER VEHICLES AT FORD EXPENSE ARE NO LONGER AUTHORIZED FOR THIS RECALL.
^ THE REPAIR PROCEDURE IN THIS BULLETIN IS FOR ALL CUSTOMER OWNER TRUCKS WITH OR WITHOUT SEVERE SHIMMY. THIS PROCEDURE SUPERCEDES RECALL 88S39'S REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS DATED FEBRUARY, 1988 FOR VEHICLES WITH FRONT END SHIMMY.
^ DO NOT USE THIS REPAIR PROCEDURE FOR TRUCKS ON DELIVERY HOLD. USE 88S39-S1, DATED FEBRUARY, 1988.
