Test 4 & 5, Stator


TEST 4, STATOR
1. Place shift lever in P (manual trans in N), then set parking brake.
2. Disconnect TFI module harness connector. Attach TFI tester to battery positive and TFI harness connector.
3. Disconnect S terminal wire from starter relay, and connect remote starter switch.
4. Crank engine with remote starter switch, noting the tester LED lights.
5. If PIP light blinks, proceed to Test 6.
6. If PIP light does not blink, remove distributor cap and verify distributor rotation. If satisfactory, proceed to Test 5.


TEST 5, STATOR
1. Remove distributor from engine, then the TFI module from distributor.
2. Measure resistance values between module terminals as follows:
a. GND and PIP-in, resistance should be greater than 500 ohms.
b. PIP PWR and PIP-in, resistance should be less than 2000 ohms.
c. PIP PWR and TFI PWR, resistance should be less than 200 ohms.
d. GND and IGN GND, resistance should be less than 2 ohms.
e. PIP-in and PIP, resistance should be less than 200 ohms.
3. If readings obtained are as specified, replace stator.
4. If readings are not as specified, replace TFI.
