EEC IV PROCESSOR-SERVICE TIPS USING PINPOINT TEST PROCEDURES FOR DIS-BREAKOUT BOX AND MONITOR BOX CONNECTIONS

LIGHT TRUCK: 1989 RANGER

ISSUE: Connecting the EEC IV processor to the EEC IV breakout box (Rotunda T38L-50-EEC-IV), EEC IV monitor box (Rotunda 007-00047) or equivalent, while using the Pinpoint Test procedures for the Distributorless Ignition System (DIS) will cause the processor to fail.

ACTION: DO NOT disconnect the EEC IV processor from the vehicle unless directed by diagnostics when diagnosing the DIS using the Pinpoint Test procedures found in the DIS Shop Manual Supplement TSB 89-5A. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the EEC IV processor be connected to the EEC IV breakout box, the EEC IV monitor box or equivalent while using the Pinpoint Test procedures for DIS, see Figures 1 & 2.

AUTION: TAG OR PLACE A WARNING NOTE ON THE EEC IV PROCESSOR CONNECTOR TO PREVENT ANY WRONG CONNECTION.
