LIGHT TRUCK: 1987-89 BRONCO II, RANGER
ISSUE: Reports have been received of internal engine damage caused by water entering the engine through the air intake system. This condition may occur while the vehicle is driven in normal wet conditions, such as water splash/spray from other vehicles or driving through shallow water. In 1988 improvements were made to the 2.9L EFI engine air intake system that have greatly reduced the number of reported incidences.
ACTION: Dealers should be assured that warranty repairs will not be denied unless there is evidence of owner misuse. This warranty repair policy will remain effective unless you are notified that a waterproof air intake system has been released.
