ISSUE: Interior lighting and a radio that is inoperative may be caused by circuit # 53 in the 14401 wiring harness rubbing on the parking brake mechanism.

ACTION: Install a shield to eliminate the chafing condition. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Check for worn wires of the 14401 wiring harness in the parking brake mechanism area.

2. Repair damaged wires as required.

3. Install the shield (F0TZ-2W605-A) as shown in Figure 1.
NOTE: IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO PULL THE 14401 WIRE HARNESS AWAY FROM THE PARKING BRAKE MECHANISM AND TO UNLATCH AND LOWER THE FUSE PANEL TO GAIN CLEARANCE TO INSTALL THE SHIELD.

4. Slide the shield into place making sure it is securely snapped onto the parking brake mechanism.
