Radio, Stereo, and Compact Disc: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. Disconnect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines).
2. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators/Instrument Panel/Service and Repair and remove instrument cluster trim cover.
3. Remove four radio mounting plate attaching screws, then slide radio with bracket and mounting plate out of instrument panel.
4. Disconnect antenna lead, speaker wires and electrical connectors from radio.
5. If radio is being replaced, remove rear support and mounting brackets.

INSTALLATION

1. If necessary, install rear support bracket on radio and torque nut to 22-35 inch lbs.
2. If necessary, install mounting brackets on radio and torque screws to 9-12 inch lbs.
3. Connect antenna lead, speaker wires and electrical connectors to radio.
4. Position radio to instrument panel and install four attaching screws. Ensure rear support bracket engages instrument panel support and mounting plate is fully seated on instrument panel.
5. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANELS AND CLUSTERS/COMPONENT R&R PROCEDURES/INSTRUMENT CLUSTER and install instrument cluster trim cover.
6. Connect battery ground cable (two ground cables on diesel engines), and verify proper operation of radio.
