Test 10, Wiring Harness
1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from ignition module and check for dirt, corrosion, or damage. Push connector tabs to separate.
2. Disconnect wire from S terminal of starter relay.
3. Connect negative lead of voltmeter to distributor base.
4. Check battery voltage.
5. Check connector terminal voltage by connecting a voltmeter to small straight pin inserted into connector terminal. Check voltage with ignition switch in following positions: check connector terminal 3 with ignition switch in Run and Start positions; and terminal 4 with switch in Start position.
6. If voltage readings are at least 90% of battery voltage, inspect wiring between coil and TFI module terminal 2 or any additional wiring or components connected to that circuit and repair as necessary.
7. If voltage readings are less than 90% of battery voltage, check wiring harness and connectors for damage or shorts. Check for damaged or worn ignition switch.
