Test 4, 5, & 6, Stator

TEST 4, STATOR

1. Disconnect wiring harness connector from distributor and check for dirt, corrosion and damage.
2. Using a suitable digital ohmmeter, measure resistance between connector terminals 1 and 5.
3. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, proceed to TEST 5.
4. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace stator.

TEST 5, STATOR

1. Measure resistance between stator connector terminal 2 and distributor base.
2. Measure resistance between stator connector terminal 6 and distributor base.
3. If resistance is less than 1 ohm for either terminal, proceed to TEST 6.
4. If resistance is greater than 1 ohm, inspect retaining screws in distributor bowl and repair as necessary. If satisfactory, replace stator.

TEST 6, STATOR

1. Place shift lever in P (manual trans. in N), then set parking brake.
2. Disconnect TFI module harness connector.
3. Attach TFI tester to battery positive and negative to harness connector.
4. Disconnect S terminal wire from starter relay and connect remote starter switch.
5. Crank engine with remote starter switch, noting the tester LED lights.
6. If PIP light blinks, reconnect harness connectors and proceed to TEST 7.
