Quick Test 6.0 (Continuous Service Codes)
After servicing any Key On Engine Off or Engine Running hard failures and a pass code 11 is received on both, then service the Continuous Memory codes by entering the key on engine running wiggle test. For information on the wiggle test see the Engine/Emissions Diagnostic Shop Manual Section 14.
Some special considerations for Continuous testing:
The cause of some Continuous Memory Codes may have been eliminated if Key On Engine Off and/or Engine Running codes were serviced. Always retest and service only the codes that still remain.
If one or more of the following codes are present, go to the Pinpoint Test indicated in the Quick
Test service code chart first: 49, 56, 52, 66, 67, 69, 99. The corresponding Pinpoint Tests for the codes will check the processor and wiring harnesses to the solenoid body. If these tests fail to locate a fault, go to the "Drive Cycle Test" for codes 49, 59 and 69 or the Electrical Diagnosis Chart Index in Section 17-09 of the Truck Shop Manual. Repeat the Quick Test after completing service on these codes.
If the Continuous test passes (code 11) and a fault is still present, refer to the "Diagnostic By Symptom" Charts (Quick Test 7.0).
Fault codes in continuous memory can be erased by disconnecting the battery, or by ungrounding the STI while the codes are being displayed during the Key On Engine Off Self Test. STI is ungrounded by disconnecting the small self test connector or unlatching the STAR tester button. Always write down the codes to avoid losing information that can be used to diagnose the customer's concern.
Service any non-transmission error codes first as they can directly affect the operation of the transmission. Repeat the Quick Test and Road Test to verify correction.
If one of the following codes appear during the Quick Test, service them first before continuing with the transmission diagnosis.
