RPM Sensor
Description: On gasoline engines, the Profile Ignition Pulse (PIP) signal is produced by a HallEffect device in the distributor. It tells the processor assembly (12A650) the engine RPM and the crankshaft position.
On diesel engines, the RPM Sensor provides engine RPM to the processor assembly (12B565).
Sensor: RPM Sensor (diesel) or PIP Sensor (gasoline)
Transmission function: TV pressure and shift scheduling
Symptoms: Harsh engagements and shifts, late WOT upshifts, no converter lock (PIP Sensor failure, engine will not run)
