2-54J-R10, 2-54E-R10, 2-54K-R11, 2-54L-R12, 2-54W-R10, 2-54Z-R10, 2-54V-R11, 2-54X-R12

WARNING:
THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINE. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS.

ISSUE:
The subject vehicles are calibrated for either 49 State or for High Altitude use. Transferring one of these vehicles from 49 State to High Altitude use, or High Altitude to 49 State use, may require changing of the EEC IV Processor with another processor having the proper calibration.

ACTION:
If a calibration conversion is required for meeting vehicle registration requirements, use the following service procedure.


1. Prior to performing a processor change, put the vehicle through an EEC IV Quick Test as outlined in the 1992 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual.

2. If a Pass Code (111) is obtained, continue with the processor change, otherwise service as required and perform the processor change after receiving a Pass Code (111).





3. If it is necessary to change the calibration between 49 State and High Altitude, refer to the EEC IV - 49 State and High Altitude Calibration Conversion Chart, Figure 1, for correct parts usage.

4. If a processor change is made, gap the spark plugs to 0.052-0.056" (1.32-1.42 mm). (See notes following the EEC IV - 49 State and High Altitude Calibration Conversion Chart, Figure 1.)






Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
