ISSUE:
Chrome wheels may have a reddish brown appearance, commonly caused by a mixture of road dirt and "metallic" brake dust that builds up on the chrome wheel surface. Typically, the heaviest buildup is in the corner of the vented "window" openings on the wheel. When contaminants oxidize on the wheels it leaves a "rusty-color" appearance.
ACTION:
Clean the chrome wheels regularly using an approved chrome cleaner. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Wash wheels with a normal automotive cleaner and let air dry.
2. Apply Bright Metal Cleaner (8A-19522-A) following instructions on container.
NOTE:
DO NOT ALLOW CHROME CLEANER TO CONTACT PAINTED SURFACES. IF CONTACT IS MADE WITH PAINTED SURFACES WIPE OFF IMMEDIATELY FROM PAINTED SURFACE WITH A CLEAN CLOTH.
3. Chrome steel wheels may require regular or periodic cleaning to maintain their original luster and appearance depending on specific road and environmental conditions.
CAUTION:
DO NOT USE ANY TYPE OF CAR WAX ON THE CHROME FINISH. WAX WILL DEFEAT THE MICRO-POROUS FINISH OF THE CHROME WHEEL WHICH PROVIDES ADDED PROTECTION AGAINST LOCALIZED RUSTING.
