WARNING:
THIS MODIFICATION IS AUTHORIZED ONLY FOR THE LISTED ENGINE. PERFORMING THIS MODIFICATION ON OTHER ENGINE CALIBRATIONS IS UNAUTHORIZED AND COULD CREATE LIABILITY UNDER APPLICABLE FEDERAL OR LOCAL LAWS.

ISSUE:
The vehicle may surge on acceleration or at steady speed below 35 mph (56 kmh). This occurs because of excessive EGR flow.

ACTION:
Perform diagnosis and, if necessary, replace the EEC IV Processor.

1. Perform the diagnostic procedures as outlined in the 1992 Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Service Manual and service as required.





2. If the surge is still present and no fault codes are encountered during the diagnostics testing, replace the EEC IV Processor. Refer to the following EEC IV Processor Application Chart.

NOTE:
IF A PROCESSOR CHANGE IS MADE, THE SPARK PLUGS OF THE VEHICLE WHICH HAD THE ROO LEVEL CALIBRATION PROCESSOR MUST BE GAPPED AT 0.052" - 0.056" (1.32 MM - 1.42 MM).





Obtain an Authorized Modifications Decal and list the date, dealer number, and summary of alterations performed. Select a prominent place adjacent to the Vehicle Emission Control Information Decal suitable for installing the Authorized Modifications Decal. Clean the area, install the decal, and cover it with a clear plastic decal shield.
