Circuit Breaker Test
Two separate tests are necessary to check for correct circuit breaker operation. Remove the circuit breaker from the fuse junction panel for the tests.TEST 1
1. Before connecting the Rotunda digital volt-ohmmeter 007-00001 or equivalent, short the tester leads together and adjust the current draw until it equals the circuit breaker reading.
2. Connect the circuit breaker to the tester for ten minutes. Hold the current reading on the ammeter at the rated current. If the breaker opens during the ten minutes, replace it.
TEST 2
1. Short the tester leads together and adjust the current draw until it is twice the rated current.
2. Connect the circuit breaker.
3. Hold the current rating on the ammeter at twice rated current.
4. The current reading on the ammeter should drop to zero within 20 seconds. Replace the circuit breaker if it takes longer than 20 seconds to open.
