Front Planetary Failure

There are several measures that should be taken during rebuild to help reduce planetary failure.

Lack of lube can quickly turn the front planetary into a pile of rubble.

Step 1: Cross-drill the stator support.

Modify the stator support by drilling a .055" hole through the wall that separates line pressure from Torque Converter charge.

Step 2: Use the hardened case bushings.

Front bushing PN: F2TZ-7025-A

Rear bushing PN: F2TZ-7025-B

Step 3: Remove the Front Sun gear bushing.

Step 4: Add a lube feed to the forward clutch

Step 5: Make sure the cooler is not restricted. Before you deliver the vehicle, check the cooler flow at the rear cooler line. You should get at least 1 quart in 20 seconds. If not, have the cooler tank repaired. Keep in mind an in-line filter or cooler check valve that is installed "backwards" will also cause low/no cooler flow.
