LIGHT TRUCK:
1992 ECONOLINE
ISSUE:
A "creaking" noise may come from the headliner. This occurs because the roof bows are flexing.
ACTION:
Remove the headliner from the B-pillar back and cover the # 2, # 3 and # 4 roof bows completely with foam tape. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
1. Remove the headliner from the B-pillar back. Refer to the 1992 Econoline Service Manual, Section 01-05B, for the removal procedure.
NOTE:
DO NOT REMOVE THE HEADLINER BETWEEN THE WINDSHIELD AND THE B-PILLAR.
2. Cut foam tape (E4AZ-19627-A) into 4-1/2 foot (1.37 metre) lengths as required.
3. Cover the # 2, # 3 and # 4 roof bows completely with foam tape. Use three (3) strips of tape on each bow.
NOTE:
THE ROOF BOW AT THE B-PILLAR IS THE # 1 ROOF BOW AND IS NOT TO BE COVERED WITH FOAM TAPE.
4. Locate the push pin holes and puncture the foam tape with a pencil or other suitable tool. This will help in finding the holes when installing the headliner.
5. Install the headliner using new push pins. Refer to the Parts Block of this TSB Article for correct parts usage.
