Clearing Trouble Codes

NOTE: Ford DOES NOT provide procedures other than those described to clear trouble codes.

1. Ensure ignition switch is in RUN position with engine OFF

2. Locate the black RABS II diagnostic connector. Disconnect two halves of the connector (one side has an orange/black wire attached to it the other is red).
3. Attach a jumper wire to the orange/black wire side of the connector. Momentarily ground the opposite end of jumper for 1-2 seconds.
4. The RABS lamp, located in the instrument panel, should start flashing a trouble code.

5. Trouble codes consist of a number of short flashes and ends with one long flash. Count short and long flashes to obtain the trouble code.
6. The trouble code will repeat until the key is turned OFF.
