Oil Charge
If there are no signs of external oil leakage, use following procedure to add oil to system during component replacement.1. Isolate compressor or discharge system, as needed, then remove defective component.
2. Add proper amount of new refrigerant oil for each replacement component as follows:
a. If compressor is replaced or overhauled on models except FX-15, add 6 ounces of oil to compressor prior to installation. A factory service replacement compressor contains 10 ounces of refrigeration oil. To ensure proper oil charge, drain 4 ounces of oil from compressor prior to installation.
b. If FX-15 compressor is replaced, drain refrigerant oil into a calibrated container. If amount of oil drained from compressor is between 3 and 5 ounces, add same amount of oil to new compressor. If oil drained from compressor is less than 3 ounces, add 3 ounces of oil to new compressor. If oil drained from compressor is more than 5 ounces, add only 5 ounces of oil to new compressor.
c. If accumulator is replaced, measure amount of oil remaining in defective accumulator, and add the same amount of oil to replacement accumulator plus 1 additional ounce.
d. If condenser is replaced, add 1 ounce of oil to replacement condenser.
e. If evaporator is replaced, add 3 ounces of oil to replacement evaporator.
3. Install replacement components, then evacuate and recharge system.
