^ NOISE - "GROWLING" - A/C DISCHARGE LINE CONTACTS AUXILIARY A/C COWL TUBE ASSEMBLY - 5.8L ENGINE

LIGHT TRUCK:
1992 ECONOLINE

ISSUE:
A "growiing" noise heard under the hood when the A/C compressor is in operation, may be caused by the A/C discharge line from the A/C Manifold and Tube Assembly, contacting the auxiliary A/C Cowl Tube Assembly.

ACTION:
Use the following procedure to increase the clearance between the two tubes.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Check the clearance between the two tube assemblies in the engine compartment. If they are contacting each other during compressor operation, make a clearance adjustment.

The discharge line on the Manifold and Tube Assembly, should be pulled forward one inch for additional clearance. The discharge line should be directly above the compressor's lower rear mounting bolt when in the correct position. Refer to Figure 1 for clearance locations.
