Headrest Guide Rod Sleeve - Service Procedure

SEAT - HEADREST - "NEW" DESIGN GUIDE ROD SLEEVE - SERVICE PROCEDURES
LIGHT TRUCK:
1992-93 F SUPER DUTY, F-150-350 SERIES, F-47, RANGER
ISSUE:
A "new" design headrest guide rod sleeve is used on the subject vehicles. A new removal and installation procedure is required for these headrests.
ACTION:
When removing or installing the new design headrest, refer to the following procedure for service details.
HEADREST REMOVAL:
1. Raise headrest to maximum height stop.
2. With fingers, depress the seat upholstery fabric around the sleeve to, locate the hairclip under the flange of the guide sleeve. Refer to Figure 1.
3. With finger or suitable tool, pull rearmost leg of hairclip rearward while lifting straight up on the headrest, this will disengage the last notch on the headrest rod.
NOTE:
GUIDE SLEEVE MAY BE ORIENTED 1800 FROM ILLUSTRATED GUIDE SLEEVE. PULL ONLY ON THE REARMOST LEG OF HAIRCLIP, WHICH IS THE ONE ENGAGING THE HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT NOTCHES.
4. Repeat for other rod.
5. Lift headrest to remove.
HEADREST INSTALLATION:
1. Reposition upholstery to its original position for neat appearance.
2. Insert headrest guide rods and push down on headrest.
