DOOR GLASS - SEPARATION OF DOOR GLASS FROM GLASS CHANNEL
LIGHT TRUCK:
1992-93 BRONCO, F-150-350 SERIES
ISSUE:
Door glass may separate from glass channel leaving door glass inoperative. This may be caused by insufficient thickness of the rubber tape glass channel strips.
ACTION:
Remove the glass and glass channel and reassemble the glass and glass channel using glass adhesive. Refer to the following procedure for service details.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
1. Remove door trim as described in Section 01-05a of the Service Manual.
2. Remove glass and glass channel as described in Section 01-11 of the Service Manual.
3. Remove rubber tape residue from the glass and channel using 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 3M # 08984, or (low VOC) Prep Solvent 70, 3M # 08983, and allow to dry.
4. Fill the entire length of the channel 1/2 to 2/3 full with 3M AUTOMIX Channel Bonding and Sidelite Adhesive, 3M # 08641, used with a 3M mixing nozzle, 3M # 08197, and an AUTOMIX Applicator Gun, 3M # 08191 or # 08190.
5. Immediately insert the glass into the channel, centering the channel on the lower straight edge of the glass.
6. Clean any adhesive squeeze-out or residue with 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner, 3M # 08984, or (low VOC) 3M Prep Solvent 70, 3M # 08983.
7. Allow the adhesive to cure for 15-20 minutes at room temperature before re-installing window assembly into the door.
8. Install the door trim.
9. Allow one hour of adhesive curing time at room temperature before releasing the vehicle.
