Clutch Switch: Description and Operation
PURPOSEThe Clutch Pedal Position (CPP) switch provides an input to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), allowing it to compensate for changes in engine load resulting from clutch operation. The PCM adjusts the idle speed and air/fuel ratio according to input from the CPP switch.
OPERATION
When the clutch pedal is pushed down the CPP switch is shut placing ground on PCM pin 30.
RELATED DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES
DTC 528 - CPP circuit failure, during Key On Engine OFF (KOEO) self-test or while cranking the PCM sensed low voltage (clutch pedal not depressed) on the CPP circuit.
