ISSUE:
Tip-in hesitation from a stop with the engine at any operating temperature may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

ACTION:
Refer to the following Diagnosis And Repair Procedure to determine if a new PCM with revised calibration is required.

DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) check:

a. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Car/Truck Service Manual for Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and DTC concerns.

b. Check for DTC's as directed. If any DTC's are found, they must be repaired before proceeding.

c. If DTC 111 (Pass Code) is found, and the condition still exists, continue with the "diagnostic routines" in Section 2A of the PC/ED before continuing with the following.

2. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) calibrations:

a. Check to see if the vehicle has service replacement PCM part number F3TZ-12A650-ADB installed.

b. If the vehicle already has a service replacement PCM (F3TZ-12A650-ADB) installed, refer to the PC/ED for further diagnostic testing. It is not necessary to replace the PCM a second time.

c. If the vehicle does not have the service replacement PCM installed, install the service PCM (F3TZ-12A650-ADB).

d. Confirm that the customer concern has been corrected.
