Test Notes
Normal OperationEach crash sensor has two wires. One wire is used for air bag deployment and monitoring the sensor's connection to the diagnostic monitor (See code 41 diagnosis for details). The other wire is used for monitoring the mounting (ground) of the sensor to sheet metal (see codes 44 and 45 diagnosis for details). If the code 41 diagnosis reveals that both sensors are not connected AND if the code 44 and 45 diagnosis reveals that both sensors are not properly grounded, then the diagnostic monitor will flash the air bag lamp continuously at a fast rate.
Possible Causes
Rapid continuous flashing of the air bag lamp can be caused by:
1. Both primary crash sensors disconnected from wiring harness or main wiring harness not connected with engine compartment wiring harness.
