ISSUE:
A "rumble" noise may be heard on Econolines, equipped with "heater-only" units, when the heater blower motor is running. This occurs because a cavity exists where the evaporator core is normally inserted in A/C equipped units. With the blower operating, a "rumble" noise develops in the cavity on "heater-only" units.

ACTION:
Install a baffle in the cavity to reduce the noise. Refer to the following procedure for service details.

1. Remove the heater blower motor case cover, in the engine compartment, by removing the ten (10) screws securing the cover.

2. Insert the baffle (F3UZ-19A999-A) into the cavity. The two (2) slots in the top baffle flange are on top of the edge closest to the blower wheel and the back flange top hole fits on the guide pin. Refer to Figure 1.

3. Replace the blower motor case cover on the blower motor assembly.

a. Make sure the baffle stays in position.

b. Reinsert the ten (10) screws securing the cover. The blower motor case screws will secure the baffle in position.

4. Make sure that no "rumble" noise exists during blower operation.
