Diesel Governor Control Lever Position Sensor: Description and Operation

Fuel Injection Pump Lever (FIPL) Sensor:

PURPOSE
The Fuel Injection Pump Lever (FIPL) sensor is used on vehicles equipped with an E4OD automatic transmission. It is an input to the Transmission Electronic Control Assembly (TECA).

OPERATION
The FIPL sensor provides an electrical signal, proportional to the amount of fuel delivered. Based on this information, the TECA provides the proper shift scheduling and torque capacity of the transmission.

CONSTRUCTION
The FIPL sensor is very similar in operation to a throttle position sensor on a gasoline engine. It is bolted to the fuel injection pump and is actuated by the throttle lever. The sensor is adjustable.
