REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Drain fuel tank.

3. Remove skid plate and heat shields.

4. Disconnect filler hose at tank.

5. Position a suitable jack under the tank. Remove nuts from fuel tank support straps and lower tank enough to gain access to the hoses.

6. Disconnect the sending unit wires at the tank.

7. Disconnect the fuel tube push connect fittings at the sending unit.

8. Disconnect vapor hose from the fuel vapor valve.

9. Remove tank from vehicle.

INSTALLATION
1. Raise tank enough to start the tank neck into the filler hose.

2. Connect fuel vapor hose to fuel vapor valve.

3. Connect the fuel tube push connect fittings at the sending unit.

4. Secure the filler hose on the tank filler neck. Make sure the inner hose is not twisted or kinked inside the filler pipe or tank. Tighten clamps to 3-4 Nm (27-35 in lb).

5. Connect the sending unit wires.

6. Position tank to vehicle and install support straps. Tighten the rear strap bolt to 30-40 Nm (22-30 ft lb). Tighten the front strap nut to 34-46 Nm (25-34 ft lb).

7. Install heat shield on restraining strap studs. Tighten nuts to 16-24 Nm (12-18 ft lb).

8. Position tank support strap and secure to frame with bolts tightened to 11-16 Nm (8-12 ft lb).

9. Attach skid plate. Tighten nuts and bolts to 16-24 Nm (12-18 ft lb).

10. Fill fuel tank and check for leaks.

11. Connect battery ground cable.
