ISSUE:
Some vehicles with 5.0L engines and E40D transmissions may exhibit some or all of the following concerns:

^ Downshifts too often from 4th to 3rd gear.

^ Will not upshift into 4th gear when going up a slight incline.





ACTION:
Perform the normal diagnostics, as outlined in Section 07-01A of the Service Manual, for this symptom. If no Diagnostic Test Codes are found, replace the Powertrain Control Module. Refer to Figure 1 for the correct application.
