Drum Brake System: Description and Operation

Rear Brake Shoes:

The brake drums (1126) utilize internal, hydraulically activated, expanding brake shoes that are applied against a rotating drum by movable wheel cylinder pistons (2196) in the rear wheel cylinders (2261). An anchor pin, located on the non-rotating brake shoe anchor pin guide plate (2028), acts as a stop for the brake shoes prohibiting the shoe from rotating with the drum.
