No External A/C System Leaks
If there are no signs of external oil leakage, use following procedure to add oil to system during component replacement:1. Discharge system, then remove defective component.
2. Add proper amount of new refrigerant oil for each replacement component as follows:
a. Drain refrigerant oil into a calibrated container. If amount of oil drained from compressor is between 3 and 5 oz, add same amount plus 1 oz of oil to new compressor. If oil drained from compressor is less than 3 oz, add 3 oz of oil to new compressor. If oil drained from compressor is more than 5 oz, add only 5 oz of oil to new compressor.
b. If accumulator is replaced, measure amount of oil remaining in defective accumulator, and add the same amount of oil to replacement accumulator plus 2 additional oz.
c. If condenser is replaced, add 1 oz of additional oil to the replacement condenser.
d. If evaporator is replaced, add 3 oz of additional oil to the replacement evaporator.
3. Install replacement components, then evacuate and recharge system.
