Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor:
- Sends the PCM a signal indicating the temperature of the air entering the engine.
- It's resistance decreases as temperature increases.
- The PCM uses the air temperature information as a correction factor in the calculation of fuel, spark and MAF.
